Unexpected

“Unexpected”, a copyrighted post, was written for my WordPress blog called Always Growing by Jan in Covington, Louisiana

This weekend has not turned out like I expected.  We were told to expect showers, and none appeared.  I thought with the slightly cooler temperatures I would be able to work in the garden, but Friday I woke up with a terrible sore throat, and by Saturday felt worse.  I think my body is telling me to slow down, so that is what I am doing this weekend.  All I did yesterday was put out the sprinkler on the flower beds so the plants could get a good soaking and rest.  Today, looks like the same activities for me.

I did manage to take a photo of another flower that has opened.  The Rose Passion daylilies are just starting to bloom.

Rose Passion (redu)

I took this photo very early in the morning, so I don’t think it is fully open which may be why it looks lopsided.  These daylilies and a few others with buds are just starting to bloom as the ones I have shown earlier in the month are finished blooming.  I didn’t plan it this way.  Though I have tried to have something in bloom just about all year, the daylilies blooming in succession is pure luck.  It seems every now and then Mother Nature gives you a break and things work out without your having a hand in it.

Lovely daylily. Mine are just starting to bloom and you have had them blooming for weeks. Unbelieveable. I hope you are feeling better soon. There is always next weekend to work in your garden. Rest now, you evidently need it.

Thanks, Sandy. Today, I only rested. It is amazing sometimes how different our climates can be. I saw tulips blooming on a blog just yesterday.

Sorry, you aren’t feeling well. Sometimes it is our bodies telling us we are overdoing it. Just enjoy your garden, not work in it this weekend.

Garden Mary, I did take it easy today, just a little stroll around the garden and a few picks. Thanks for the concern.

We’re getting some rain here off and on. More off and than. But enough that you can’t get out there and work. Hope you feel better soon. Could it be allergies?

Brenda, I wish some of that rain would come here; we desperately need it. I do think this is allergies. I started with itchy eyes in the beginning of last week, but it never registered with me (too much going on). Then the drip started ending up with a sore throat. But, this weekend, I have been so tired and headachy. I think just resting and plenty of fluids and allergy pills is what I needed.

Jan, hope you’re feeling much better by the time you read this. Please take as good care of yourself as you do your flowers. No daylilies blooming here yet….but our day is coming.

Donna, thanks for the concern. My throat is a little better, but I am not looking forward to work tomorrow.
