The harvest has begun in earnest. Our four tomato bushes are still doing well and providing loads of fruit. I can’t believe that fruit is still setting with all the high temperatures we have been having the last two to three weeks, though I don’t know how much longer we can expect that. We have three Husky Reds and one cherry tomato that are growing in containerswhich is more than enough for the two of us. We have been having to water a lot. Sometimes two to three times a day, but it has been worth the effort. Biting into a red, ripe homegrown tomato is just heaven.
We have certainly enjoyed our tomatoes this year. We have taken some of the suckers and rooted them for a fall crop. So far these seem to be doing very well, so maybe this autumn we will have a repeat of our summer harvest.
Right now there are twenty of the Husky Reds and about fifteen cherry tomatoes on the window sill in the kitchen. With the afternoon sun shining on them, this is such a wonderful still life that just shouts – Summer!

Suckers for the fall, wow!! We haven’t gotten our first tomato yet. Have a big ol’ tomato sandwich for me!

Wow, Janet, I can’t believe you haven’t had tomatoes yet. Our climates certainly are different.

your tomatoes look beautiful. I tried the patio tomatoes for the first time this year along with one called Lemon Boy. My Celebrity and Better Boy have already gone over due to the heat but the others are still hanging on.

Linnie, how is the Lemon Boy doing. I remember my dad used to grow a yellow tomato that was fabulous.

Yes, finally, some rain. A lot is predicted for this week which should make everything grow and look better. What about you?

Love the picture of the tomatoes in the windowsill!
Homegrown tomatoes are so much better than grocery bought. I end up making a lot of salsa.

We have been having a big salad just about every night to use up all the tomatoes, and you are right, our homegrown tomatoes just can’t be beat. I can eat them just by themselves they are so good. I am really going to miss them when we have to go back to store bought.
