A Welcome Change

“A Welcome Change”, a copyrighted post, was written for my WordPress blog called Always Growing by Jan in Covington, Louisiana

Drier and a little cooler weather has finally made it to the Gulf South.  Today was lovely and tomorrow should be even better.  Rain is predicted to come again Friday and early Saturday, but I won’t mind the rain even if it comes on a weekend.  The garden has responded so well to the rains we have had lately that you would hardly believe that colder weather will be coming up fast.

One of the shrub roses that is looking better than it has in months is the Blushing Knockout Rose.  It is covered in buds that should open soon.  There are a few of its flowers already open; all in response to the recent rains after weeks of hot, dry weather.

Because we have a mild winter that usually comes very late here, we should have at least a couple of months of blooming roses brightening up the garden.  After a summer with hardly any flowers, this is a welcome change.

Oh goodness, isn’t it wonderful. We may have to turn on the heat here in NC. I have your rose and it got so big I cut it to about 12″ above ground just a month ago. Now it’s blooming again. I bought a KnockOut white variety this year but hasn’t done well at all. The bugs ate it and there are hardly any blooms–now the reds are doing great. That’s my 15 second report on my Knock Outs 😉

What a beautiful, delicate rose. I hope the weather cooperates and that you have at least a couple of months of rose blooms.

Blushing Knockout is a very nice color — must think about adding that one!

Jan, I luv seeing photos of rose buds. Sounds like your garden is coming to life while ours up here are settling in for a nap. There’s still a lot blooming around here, but it won’t be long before the white stuff happens.

Hi Jan, yes to this weather! The blush and regular knock outs are outdoing themselves here as well after so much rain. Hooray!

I have been cruising your blog and enjoying all your beautiful flowers so much. As I am heading into winter your weather sounds pretty enticing to me. It will definitely be enticing come December! LOL
Oh and I have to tell you, what a beautiful Christmas tree you had last year!

Hi Jan, Beautiful images of a lovely rose. So while we up here in the north will be keeping our fires stoked… you will be gardening! Lucky you… pay back time for the hot humid summers… enjoy! Glad to have found you! Love your title. Carol
