“November Muse Day”, a copyrighted post, was written for my WordPress blog called Always Growing by Jan in Covington, Louisiana
Today is Garden Blogger’s Muse Day, day to post a poem relating to gardening. Now, that it is November, there seems to be less gardening to be done and more time to spend with family and friends. That is why I chose this poem for November’s Muse Day.
Thanksgiving
Edgar Guest
“Give me the end of the year an’ its fun
When most of the plannin’ an’ toilin’ is done;
Bring all the wanderers home to the nest,
Let me sit down with the ones I love best,
Hear the old voices still ringin’ with song,
See the old faces unblemished by wrong,
See the old table with all of its chairs
An’ I’ll put soul in my Thanksgivin’ prayers.”

Alexandra, Edgar Guest was a very popular poet during the first half of the 20th century. Many feel he is too sentimental, but I find many of his poems speak to that longing we all sometimes have for a simpler time.
Thanks, Nancy. That is a photo that I took early this morning of my cassia tree which is just about in full bloom now.

Jon, it sounds as if you are getting better. There is nothing like looking at garden blogs to lift your spirits especially if you can’t garden yourself yet, so I am glad you were able to do so. I look forward to you posting more about your garden.

Tina, those are yellow flowers from the cassia tree I recently wrote about that was just starting to bloom. Now, it is almost in full bloom. I took that photo about 7 am, and it was a misty morning. The golden yellow is so bright that the flowers seem to glow even under early morning light.

Thanks for the feedback on my poetry selection. Edgar Guest is one of my favorites also. I remember there used to be a monthly magazine called Ideals that featured many of his poems.
