A Rose

Emily Dickinson
A sepal, petal, and a thorn
Upon a common summer morn
A flash of dew, a bee or two,
A breeze,
A caper in the trees,
And I am a rose!
These are two of the roses in my garden that have just started blooming.

I’ve always enjoyed reading works by Emily Dickinson and what a joyous poem this one is! I like it’s poetic ‘style’ as well, not sure what it’s called. It seems to have an 8-8-8-2-6-5 format. I used to know these things but not so much these days:-) What is the type of rose in the bottom photo–it’s petite looking. I love the color of the first rose–and the light in the center, photographed so well by you. How nice it must be to have roses already blooming down your way!

Ann, we are lucky to have so many things blooming now when so many people still are having cold temperatures.
Donna, thanks for the feedback on the photos. I am learning more and more about taking photos.
Randy, thanks. Like I mentioned to Donna, I think I am learning more and getting better.
Jan, that is an old-fashioned rose from my mom. I think one of the names is seven sisters or pink pet. She doesn’t know the name. It is very nice to have the roses blooming all ready.
